Chad Groover is a husband, father, and community leader who has spent his life serving others. He is the managing shareholder at Upstate Elder Law, where he focuses on estate planning, probate administration, long term care planning, Medicaid qualification, special needs planning, and probate litigation. He is a past Chairman of the South Carolina Bar Elder Law Committee and a current board member of the South Carolina chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. When Greenville families are in need, they turn to Chad.
Prior to beginning private practice in Greenville, Chad served as a prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa. In this role, Chad worked on an Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force prosecuting federal narcotics and firearms crime. His work put criminal behind bars and kept families safe.
Chad also served Counsel on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Crime, under Republican United States Senator Charles Grassley. He advised Sen. Grassley on all matters related to federal criminal law, homeland security, Constitutional law, and whistleblower protection. He also worked as Sen. Grassley’s oversight Counsel assisting with the Congressional oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
A native South Carolinian, Chad received his law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and his bachelors degree from Bob Jones University. Chad serves as a deacon at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greenville. He and his wife Gwen have two children, Ava and Willes, and reside in Simpsonville.
